Would I like to mentor with mrs. Harvest again

Yes I would, since I never got to do it today I think it would be interesting to give it a try and pair up with a third or fourth grader.

Thursday the 19th

Today we had a read aloud, read paper sheets that talked about writing and reading, heard from seven kids about the Burberry books.

Year round school 2.

I think year round school is not a good idea. For one reason is there would be no summer camp during the year, even if there was it would only be for about one week, since you only would have one month before you would have to come back and do school break work. Also it would cost more money to keep the school running during the summer because you would have to pay the teachers during that time and purchase air conditioning. It would also have the same amount of days as a traditional calendar school as a 180 day school year, but it would have no summer to relax. So I think I year prune school is not a good idea.

Zip line course in Puerto Rico.

One day in Puerto Rico, me and my family decided to do a zip line course on a mountain.  We had to buy the nine course ride for each of us, then we got in our zip line gear. They said we had to do learn how to go through the courses. They gave us a really strong glove, and said "hold this hand on the rope." As soon as I started I zoomed right to the other end of the zip line. Then they wanted us to go backwards, incase we stoped, they said grip the line and face the way you would if you were going down and keep on going up. Finaly after practicing it was time for rope two. It was only a little bit bigger than the last one. It was very short. Then rope three it was longer,faster and steeper, at the end was a pad on a tree the location was in the trees my mom went first them my dad then me, I zoomed down it and I was going so fast that the brakes for the zip line didn't stop me I crashed right into the tree. It hurt for a few seconds but the. I got over it and moved on to the next course. It was over a small river in the forests kind of, I was first to go down the line, it was a cool rope wasn't to steep but it was long. So I got on and did some spins while sitting down so I could see the entire woods, there were tall trees all around me and at one point I was over the river, finally I tried to land with my feet stumbled a little and were done.  After the next four courses, we finaly got to the final course. It may have been the highest course, really long, wasn't that steep, and you got a ok view. I was 2nd to go. My mom went first I saw her zoom all the way down. Then it was my turn, I hooked up and went down the course.  I spun around a bunch of times right in time to land. Now my brother went, he started out ok speed, got slower and slower until he was stuck right in the middle of the line. I had no idea that would happen. He was stuck for a few minutes, started to climb towards the beginning then he took off down the rope. And landed on the end platform. Then my dad went, he went Down really fast. We were all done with the ropes. We took off our gear and left. That was the time I zip lined for the first time.

Year round school

I feel year round school is just as good as traditional schools. Expert research from Bradley McMillan, collected data in North Carolina, proving that year round school students achievements were no higher than in traditional schools. As expert research again kids that go year round have just as much of a chance to loose information then kids that go to a traditional calendar. And finally in Salt Lake City as statistics year round schools only made 50% adequate yearly progress while traditional calendar made 80% adequate yearly progress. So I think year round is just as good as traditional calendar schools.

Trick or treat,Halloween 2013

It was the day of the 2013 Halloween! I had a masked phantom costume, and was going to my friends house to go trick or treat. I got there with my costume on and walked in there house with my dad and brother Nolan. I walked upstairs and found my friend in his room. I said "hi." "Hi" he said. I saw him playing a computer game, and watched, and got a turn. Then my dad yelled upstairs "guys come on down stairs!" So I walked down and my friend says ill put on my costume. I was also going with his brother and sister, his brother is Nolan's age and, wearing the same exact. Costume, the first thing I thought when I saw him wearing the same costume was who copied who. Then my friends brother also had another friend coming they showed up and we left. Nolan and his friends took off running from house to house crossing the street just to cross again. I saw my friends sister because she was walking with me to the same house, but I couldn't see my friend anywhere. So I just kept on walking from house to house with his sister. Then eventually at one house I saw these king sized candies. So we walked up to the house, "trick or treat!" i said. King sized twix bar, snickers, Milky Way and kitkat! "Take one" the man said, I grabbed the twix because its probably tied in first for my favorite candy. Then my dad, friends dad said "come back here for a second" so I walked over and they said "have you seen Grady (brothers friend) anywhere?" "Nope" I said. Nolan said "he rain down the street" Then we also couldn't find Alex (my friend) I said "where's Alex?" Alex's dad said " he headed toward the house,so he either went home or went the other way." Ditched I thought. But I tried not to let that get me down. After 20 minutes I had at least 1/4 of the bag full. Wow, I thought that's a lot of candy.

Being in the 2012 Woodward cruise

         It was the day of the 2012 Woodard cruise, we had a 1973, targa, white porsche. We were going to be in the Woodward cruise this year. Since we were going out around 1:50, we decided to take it around the block. My dad turned on the car, a loud booming sound came from the car as soon as we turned it on, then the back pipe started to shoot out smoke, just like all the older cars. I hopped in the back and realized there were no seat belts in the back of the car. But we still drove around the block, it was really cool. The windows were cranked, you cold turn the back part of the window to let in air, and there was only about 5 radio stations! 

         We got back home and ate lunch, watched tv and left. Me and my brother Nolan were in the back while my mom was in passenger seat and my dad was driving. I asked "how fast can this car go?" 

My dad said " about 130 miles, on full gear shift."

 "Wow" I said.

        When we finally got to Woodward it was packed with cars and people! This was my very first time being in the Woodward cruise, the other times I was just watching. Every few seconds we would stop at a stoplight with 9-12 cars in front of us. "This may take a while" i said, I asked "turn on the air conditioning its like 90 degrees outside!" My mom reached for it and turned it on. Although all the fans were in the front it still would feel better, the thing was as soon as we turned it on it only came out as hot air! So the air conditioning was a failure. So I decided to look for some cool cars, I saw some old mustangs, corvettes and motel-Ts and a few mercaties. My mom also pointed one out and said its something called a sting ray. I kept looking, I couldn't find another Porsche.

 We had been driving for at least two hours! When my brother Nolan said "I'm thirsty." 

My dad says "we are almost done."

    I looked out and saw more and more cars, I don't think I saw any Ferraris though. Finally my mom said "want an ice cream, were off Woodward now?" 

I said "sure, it is way too hot outside" so we went to DQ and got ice creams then drove home and were exhausted. It was fun to actually be in the cruise.

Kalahari water park

I was at kalihari hotel with my friends from Ohio and my parents,brother and there dad. We were in our room when I asked "when are we going to the water park?" "Soon." My mom said, so I went to my room and turned on the tv. After five minutes of time my dad said "ok time to go." We called are friends in their room and we left.we saw a sign that said "water park -> " so we started to run to the water park. I knew it was supposed to be a huge indoor water park, I walked in, I saw like ten slides! One of the first coasters I saw was one that started as a roller coaster on a mat that pushes you and it turns into a roller slide! Most of the coasters were huge. There was a wave pool as well. I said I want to go on the largest slide first to smallest slide last. So we walked over to the second section over the bridge in the middle of the park and we saw one that looked cool and tried it out. It was a giant toilet bowl it did turns and then fwoosh you go down into a giant toilet bowl and go around until your pretty much backwards and go down a steep slide. But while we were up there I saw another cool one. It was a sox person racer, you get a mat and it starts in a tubish area and it shoots you out into a open giant slide! I tried it looked for the one with the most water and... I got third, so then we went to the lazy river.it went around most of the park I thought that we've done a few slides already so let's go around the river. It was the coolest lazy river I've seen! You eventually go into a cave for a few minutes. We got out. Then my brother Nolan and dad said how about we try to surf? It seemed cool, I saw a few kids get up from there stomach onto there knees, it was my turn I got on the stomach board and I made it, I tried to do the knee thing and..I fell right away.

The sleeping bear dunes.

One day at camp I was very excited because my cabin and another same age boy cabin were going. To the bear dunes. This is one of the things that you only get to do once a year but we were very lucky because we get to go to the bear dunes. We were all ready to go so we started to drive there. When I looked out the window and saw a giant hill of sand and then i said "look its the bear dunes!" Because nobody in my cabin was from Michigan except me. It was probably 95 degrees out. We got out of the car just to hear none of the trippers were coming, only the counselors were going to come. On the first  hill we all started to run and race, I was one of the last ones up. Then I saw most of the group almost on the second hill that was kind of far away. So then I looked behind me and my cabins counselor Alex and some kids in our cabins Elliot and another Ethan were behind me. Then I realized I was one of the only kids smart enough to bring a water bottle,mine was metal so it would keep the water cool the whole time but I only had half bottle. We still walked then when we got to the hill we couldn't see the other group anymore. So we climbed the hill fast it was a tough hill though. When we reached the top the other group was on the top of the third hill which was even bigger then the hill we were on. Then we ran down the hill to get some speed for the hill, Alex said "let's race." We ran although me and Eliot slipped a few times, I was third at the end. When we reached the top we couldn't see the other group anymore. I said "let's roll down this one." At the end I was last and I could feel the sand in my hair. I shook my hair and as I did I saw the samd fall out, some of it still was In my hair but it was better then having all of it. We got up still we couldn't see the other group so we walked. On the 4th hill I saw a wooden sign with blue writing that said " one third of the way to lake MI" so I said "we are on third of the way there." We took a brake all of us were tired and exhausted everyone looked thirsty, I asked "I could take off the top of my bottle and pour water over your guys head?" Ethan and Eliot said "sure" so I grabbed my bottle took off the top and took the bottle and put it over Ethan's head, after he was soaked then I went over it Eliot and put it over his head, after I was done they were both soaked and then I just did the same by putting it over my head. All three of us were completely soaking wet. We got up and started to walk again, we ran and walked we saw a sign eventually just like the other one "half way there" ok half way. It seemed like we've walked miles and miles but we were only have way, then I looked around. I saw the other group they were two hills away. But after walking down the hill we couldn't see them anymore. Alex said "its pretty flat until the ext hill how about we run and try to jump off the hill backwards." We all thought that was a good idea so we tried, some of us tripped on the hill, Alex won again. Another sign you have walked two miles and are two thirds of the way there, so we ran up the hill and there it was we could see Lake Michigan a small bit. We ran down the big hill we were on and then we walked. Three minutes later we saw the other group coming toward us, they said "the trippers want us back at the vans." They walked behind us, Alex said "we can walk for a little bit more." We were only one hill away from the lake, Alex said "time to go back" so we walked back but before doing so we took some pictures together and without of us I front of Lake Michigan. We were at a big hill going Down it. alex said "lets do a few more fun things, lets jump and see who can make it the farthest." I was second! The one third sign was infront of us we walked and walked took a other water brake but kept walking, I forgot who brought this up but one of us said "let's go to seven eleven." Alex said "maybe, it's not my decision." We were on the starting hill, we all said "let's run as fast as possible down this hill." We ran, I was last again. We had done it we had done the bear dunes! Every one of us ran for the closest water fountain. Got a drink of water put our shoes on and went to the van. That was the time I climbed the bear dunes. (we never went to seven eleven.)

The day I got my desktop

One day I was very excited, because I would be setting up my very first computer! I already had the screen and a brand new Asus desktop, but we never had set it up. Right after dinner I asked "can we set up my computer please?" My dad said "sure." So we opened up the box and there was the Asus desktop. We got to where we were going to put it in and plugged it in.  Then since the screen was already there we didn't need to lug it from the box. Then after we put in all the plugs, the screen turned on. But all that happened was a loading screen it said 1%. I said "this may take a while." 10% 25%60% I kept on waiting as the loading went higher and higher. 80%90%95% I shouted to my dad "it's on 95%." My dad came over,97%98%99%100%! it then said choose a background for opening screen. There were at least fifteen different colors.but there was no red only a Pink,which made me disappointed because red is my favorite color. So I looked at the greens, the blues, the yellows and purples/pinks and oranges.  Then I saw one that I really liked, it was a lightish blue with a little dark blue combination. I pointed to it and my dad said "that's a cool color." Then  it said turning on computer. The screen went to the desktop screen. My dad said how to get to the windows8 screen is by going to any corner and clicking windows8. So I did and there it was some of my games and writing publishers and stores. Then my dad got me a new security system. Then it was all done my very first computer all set up. So then I asked "may I play around with it?" So my dad said "sure but only for a little bit because you have to go to sleep soon." So I looked at it and played with it for the rest of the night.

 

The day I got my X-box360

One night, I had just finished dinner. And my parents both said "we have a for you and Nolan its in the closet in the mud room." Right then me and Nolan ran right for the mudroom closet, I had beaten him by a few seconds. I opened the closet... And right there was a brand new X-box360!!! Me and Nolan both shouted "yay!"and me and him both started to carry it into the kitchen very carefully not to drop it. I said to my parents "Thank you!" "Your welcome." Then me and Nolan started to check out the X-box box with the game included In it.I said "300 gigabytes!" And one of the games I played at my friends house and would love to have and would soon beat the whole serious HALO REACH! I right then wanted to play it. I asked my mom and dad "where will it be plugged In!?" They said "In the basement"

So I asked my dad "can we plug it in right now?"he said "sure"so I ran downstairs with my dad and my brother Nolan. We got by the tv in front of the treadmill and we plugged it in. It said we needed a character so we called it Ethan and Nolan although it would soon be my account. It took at least 15 minutes. And the game HALO REACH started to load. Dad said this will take a long time so you will have to play it tomorrow. Me and Nolan were disappointed, but we still were able to play tomorrow. Nolan asked "right when we wake up?" Dad said "yes,right when you wake up." So me and Nolan went upstairs to go to sleep very soon so we could soon the next day.
