Have you ever been in love before?  In the story Seventh Grade by Gary Soto,Victor is in love.

Teresa is going to be my girl this year. This proves my claim because, he is promising himself that Teresa will be his girl friend that year.  It also is saying that he is really in love with one person, and that he will try to be her boy friend.  Now this is and isnt a good idea for Victor, Because if he manages to impress Teresa, she will be his girl friend. But if Victor messes up there would be consequences of his actions, Teresa would not like him any more and it would mean that Teresa being his girl friend will never happen.

Mr. Buller asked if anyone knew French. Victor raised his hand, wanting to impress Teresa. This can prove my claim because Victor is trying to impress Teresa by saying he knows French. He may be saying he knows it because he wants her to think he knows French. I would say he should not do this.  When the teacher would ask him a question, he wont know how to answer and will make a fool of himself infront of the Tereasa,the teacher, and the entire class.  

"Yes now somebody give me an example of a person-you Victor Rodriguez." "Teresa," Victor said automatically. This can prove my claim because when they asked for a person Victor said Teresa automatically, which this means he defenently has a crush on Teresa. Victor should not act this way, what ends up happening is he becomes embarrassed, and when another kid is called on by the teacher, the kid say's " Teresa's house with a bunch of older brothers." Now this is also embarrassing to Victor, because everyone in that class now knows that he has a crush on Teresa. When the kid says "Teresa's house with a bunch of older brothers" it is adding on to Victor's answer, which i think will make him more embarrassed. 

So I think that Victor is in love. Because of what happens in the book I can say that Victor is in love.

AHW, Boating 2

Last sunday I went boating with my family and my brothers friends family. We started off just driving to the middle of the boat. After we got to the middle of the boat my brother and his two friends hopped on our three person lay down tube. They went about one minute before my brother flew off. After he got back on, a minute later one of his friends fell off, then his other friend swung off.  They all went again and held onto the handle with both hands this time.  Finally,  they lasted for a long time tubing. Then my brothers friends sister and older brother hopped on. We drove around the lake with them behind us. We hit a big turn and his sister flew off the tube into the lake. She got back on and went around again and then they both got thrown off. They got back on and lasted for a while too. Now it was my turn.  I jumped on the tube alone. I grabbed the handles by the middle and told my dad to start. The tube took off, 

AHW, Boating 1

Tell me about a character you really dislike in this book. What kind of person is this character,and why is he/she your least favorite? Give some specific examples from the book to help me understand your choice. 

My least favorite character is Captain Ivers. He is a very mean slave owner who owns the main character and his family.  He also is very strict as well. When Daniel's,the main character, dad fought in the revolution and was promised his freedom, was denied by Captain Ivers. Also when Daniels dad ran away he was put in jail by Captain ivers. And when Daniels dad fought in the revolution he got soldiers notes, which he thinks is worth 600$, but after he died by drowning after he got his freedom, the notes were locked away by Captain Ivers. He also was trying to sell Daniel away to the bahamas, because he stole back his soldiers notes. Another thing he did was beat up the Daniel a few times in the story.  Also when Daniel jumped ship into New York, Captain Ivers is hunting him down and will bring him to the bahamas for sure. These are just a few reasons why Captain Ivers is my least favorite character in the story jump ship to freedom.   

AHW, new tube

about a week ago when i went to my boat we bought a brand new lay down tube for our pontoon.  I was the only kid there since my brother was at his friends house. I put on my life jacket and jumped onto the tube. At first my dad went really fast, so i made the sign to go down.  from then on i had a really good time going fast and slow, until i was on it for ten minutes. My dad stopped the boat, and i slid forward and into the freezing water. I couldn't get back on the tube so i held on and went towards the ladder as i was pulled in.

Journal Response Prompt 2- which character are you most alike?why? Be specific!

The character that i am most alike from book jump ship to freedom is probably Daniel. The reason i say Daniel as the character most alike to me is because of a few reasons. First thing that we are similar to each other is that we both are kids. Another way that we are alike is that we both live in the USA. We also both care about our family. Another way is that we both think slavery was/is horrible.  We are also both friendly. And one final way is that we are both boys. So i think i am most alike to Daniel. It is from those few reasons that i am most alike to Daniel.
